This paper aims to make evident how important the community’s participation is in the intervention, adaptation, and renovation processes of urban spaces. The research is conducted as a revision of the technical and theoretical concepts used to develop this topic and making a general approach to the development of this topic today. This work is a documentary exploration intended to consolidate a general framework of the community participation in different urban projects that focus on making communities more resilient. All the foregoing allows determining the impact of the community participation on the projects studied herein as compared to projects that do not adopt a participative approach when carried out. To conclude, positive impacts from projects with community participation are reported to support and reinforce the idea that it is a crucial tool to build the citizenship.
