The purpose of this article is to explore how human resource management has responded to the worldwide COVID-19 crisis. Although in the previous literature, the reaction of human resource management to economic and financial crises has been thoroughly analyzed, little is known about how this organizational function adapts to crises caused by COVID-19 pandemic. In order to achieve the purpose of this article, a literature review was carried out, and its results were structured in accordance with the human resource management system conception and the AMO framework for human resource policies and practices. As a result, this article identifies changes the in human resource management system architecture and human resource policies and practices, in order to adequately respond to the crisis caused by a COVID-19 pandemic.
