This work aims to promote reflections on memory as an act of our experiences, mainly in reference to the collectivity.When analyzing the collective memory, we can see that they are reflections of the experiences of a society, always bringing a connection with the construction of social identity and citizen formation.For that, we used several theoretical references in order to understand memory, its epistemology and its relevance in the works of Walter Benjamin and other thinkers.We also consider that memory is selective and has a dynamic action in the experiences of individuals.This article will also show the gaps in the preservation of collective memory and in the absence of a reflection of the dispute in this field, from then on, the consequences in the recognition of several social groups that (re) build the history of society on a daily basis and are sources of information about cultural transformations.With that, we conclude, that to recognize the diversity of the experiences that build a collective and essential memory in the citizen formation.
