Spanish Abstract: La estadística espacial es una de las múltiples subramas de la estadística matemática. Esta disciplina abarcativa comprende el set de instrumentales metodológicos y diversas técnicas formales que tienen por objeto el estudio de entidades que ostentan propiedades, geométricas y topológicas. En consecuencia, posibilita el análisis y modelado de datos cuyas coordenadas espaciales y/o temporales son conocidas. En este paper se presentan algunas nociones conceptuales básicas y propiedades inherentes a los modelos espacio-temporales. Asimismo, son presentadas algunas consideraciones teóricas en torno a una clase conspicua de modelos que caracterizan la variabilidad espacio-temporal.English Abstract: Spatial statistics is one of the many branches of mathematical statistics. This comprehensive discipline includes the set of methodological instruments and formal techniques that aim to study entities that have geometric and topological properties. Consequently, these techniques allow the analysis and modeling of data that have spatial and temporal components. This paper presents some basic conceptual notions and mathematical properties of space-time models. In addition, some theoretical considerations about this class of models are presented.
