Spanish Abstract: Los estudios sobre la Geopolítica han estado caracterizados por construcciones estadocéntricas que limitan el alcance a condiciones rígidas en la clásica configuración entre espacio y poder. Si bien ha habido un avance crítico alrededor del concepto con nuevos aportes epistemológicos, las nociones al respecto en zonas periféricas como el Caribe se conciben como herencias terminológicas y que no corresponden a la esencia particular de los contextos y realidades. En ese sentido, surge la necesidad de generación de un conocimiento propio referente a la Geopolítica desde el Caribe en vez de hacia el Caribe. Adicionalmente, la construcción de un concepto de sur-alterno sobre dicha área para lograr un fundamento epistemológico propio y que se desprenda de herencias categóricas. Por tal razón, el presente artículo busca responder el cuestionamiento sobre ¿cómo se han construido los conceptos de la sur-alternidad y la geopolítica en el Caribe. English Abstract: Studies on Geopolitics have been characterized by state-centered constructions that limit scope to rigid conditions in the classical configuration between space and power. Although there has been a critical advance around the concept with new epistemological contributions, notions about it in peripheral areas such as the Caribbean are conceived as terminological legacies and do not correspond to the particular essence of the contexts and realities. In this sense, there is a need to generate own knowledge regarding Geopolitics from the Caribbean instead of the Caribbean. Additionally, the construction of a concept of south-alternate on said area to achieve an epistemological foundation of its own and that detaches itself from categorical legacies. For this reason, this article seeks to answer the question about how have the concepts of south-alternity and geopolitics been built in the Caribbean.
