Geographic inequality is a relative phenomenon, subject to alterations and transformations related to the distribution of resources, or population. It also relates to the production processes themselves. This research aims to analyze spatially the socioeconomic inequalities occurring in the towns of the Yucatán Peninsula. The methodology consists in applying indicators to calculate the development indexes and the socioeconomic potential. This way, a matrix analysis of the territorial divergences was carried out in each town. The results showed a positive territorial divergence in most of them, i.e., the level of development is either above or the same as the development potential. Therefore, it is concluded that the spatial distribution in these towns is closely linked to the divergences existing in the whole Yucatán Peninsula
