The modeling of phenomena meteorological is a decisive step for the development of any air quality modeling. In domains involving complex geography the representation of the atmospheric dynamics is one of the main challenges for air quality modeling. In Colombia, multiple previous studies of modeling the quality of the air have been developed using the meteorology of the "Weather Research and Forecast" (WRF) model, mainly about the city of Bogotá. These studies have used different settings for the representation of meteorology. The goal of this study is to implement the WRF V3.9.1 model to simulate meteorology in the city of Bogotá. The focus of this study is based on the use of a new topography in Colombia, ALOS-PALSAR (12.5 m) and its comparison with the standard topography of WRF GEO-TOPO (1000 m) seeking to accurately reproduce the behavior of the meteorological variables that affect the dispersion of pollutants and atmospheric chemistry accurately, and compare it with models from previous studies for cities of Bogotá, Manizales and cities elsewhere of the world.
