Introduction : Colombia is home to the most diverse avifauna in the world with more than 1.921 species (including exotic ones). Objective : To determine the diversity of birds in different areas of influence of the Permanent Parcel of Biological Research in Salero, Choco. Methodology : Samplings were carried out with six mist nets: three of 6 mi, three of 12 m, in the pages established from 05:30 am until 18:00 pm, complemented with observations by points with binoculars (10 X 40), to evaluate bird communities. Results : Combining efforts of sampling of capture and observation, 480 individuals were registered: 109 captured and 371 observed, grouped in 11 orders, 25 families, 75 genera and 87 species of birds. The order Passeriformes (S: 11, Pi: -0.36), was the best represented; the families Tyrannidae (S: 13, Pi: -0.826) and Thraupidae (S: 13, Pi: -0.860), were the most representative. There is no significant differentiation in terms of composition (richness and abundance of species) between the collections. Two species of migratory birds nine almost endemic to Colombia, and 93.1% of the recorded species located in the category least concern; two species near threatened and endangered according IUCN classification (2014) were recorded. 11 trophic groups were recorded, with the group of the most important insectivores, followed by frugivorous species -insectivorous and nectar-insectivores. Discussion : To date, the composition of the Poultry of Permanent Research Plot Biological in the Path Salero is esti- mated at 105 species, 30 families and ten orders passerine and non-passerines.
