Very long-term rate of posterior laser capsulotomy and corneal endothelial cell loss after phacoemulsification

Abstract:

Reply: My study is population-based and comprises both questionnaire data and data from an eye examination performed 20 years postoperatively. In the Methods section and in the Abstract, it is mentioned that 114 patients were included in the study, of which 100 patients underwent an eye examinati1n and 14 patients participated with the questionnaire alone. Nd:YAG data are based on the examined patients to avoid errors in data collection. Regarding the Nd:YAG rate, there are 2 patients who had posterior capsular rupture at surgery and therefore no possibility to develop posterior capsular opacification, and 2 patients had missing data. This might have been clarified in the Methods section. The Nd:YAG rate in the Abstract is not correct, I am sorry for that. This issue was lifted at proofreading, and I was sure that the numbers and percentages were changed. At the website, my study is in press journal pre-proof, which perhaps means that a corrected version will be published later. Correct numbers are as in the Results section; 40 (42%) of 96 patients had Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy over 20 years. Data regarding corneal endothelial cell density were not collected, as this prospective study was focused on patient visual functional outcomes.
