Objective. Identify the type of relationships gestated by older people who stay in high migration contexts. Methodology. Ethnographic study conducted in a Mexican town with high migration and aging rates. Results and conclusion. The main migrant network of the elderly are children; which leads them to build networks at different scales: family, local, regional and transnational, in addition to developing links with non-human living beings. Migration dynamics favor the formation of community networks by older people who stayed in their places of origin, where nuclear families become blurred and become extended families that include networks and links generated from the process migratory. Traditional patterns of reciprocal care between parents and children are reconfigured and begin to be assumed by other networks.
