According to the technological and scientific developments that had raised the fourth industrial revolution, it is necessary that educational processes will be updated with the aim of training citizens to develop skills for the resolution of complex problems associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). However, sometimes these goals are not enough to ensure the social development of the community, since they focus mainly on sustainability from a point of view centered on the global north. Nevertheless, there are development alternatives, like buen vivir, based on Latin American ideas, that take into account principles like biocentrism, postcapitalism, decolonialism and depatriarchalization. This Work in progress involves some ideas that could favor the appropriation, transfer and generation of new knowledge collectively in order to reduce the existing gaps in the relationship between academy, industry and society, in the educative processes of the future engineers in the Colombian social and technological contexts.
