Teaching epidemiology is not easy particularly if che term is APPLIED AS PROPOSED IN THIS paper, epidemiology is focused on the economical approach of the livestock producer instead of considering just the consumer. Definition, related disciplines, elements, health and disease concept are discussed as well as its ecosytem relationships.The importance of Veterinary Epidemiology is emphasized regarding the disease concept and its impact on livestock production. Veterinary Epidemiology is rather a new subject in Veterinary Schools all over the world its usefullness is not really assessed. It is considered that Epidemiology should be introduced in the basic training within the Bioestatis tics and Research Methodology areas, the Veterinary Epidemiology course by itself must be teached at the end of the seconu part (preclinic) or at the begining of the third one (clinic period) of the Veterinary Medicine curriculum. Some apects regarding planning are suggested, stressing the importance of Veterinary Epidemiology at various levels of Veterinary Practice.
