The purpose of this study was to analyze the tables of learning standards for the social sciences, for the implementation of basic learning rights and their teaching in Colombian educational establishments, both from the perspectives that evoke a pedagogical process based on the environment, and from the relationship between governmental educational public policies and their connection with the descriptive definition of the policy, neo-liberal positions and economic neoinstitutionalism. The methodology used was the literature review and the document analysis of the works, which was carried out by means of the analytical approach around the teaching of social sciences in Colombia and its relationship with texts of state educational guidelines. The inquiry established that these curricular guidelines for teaching this compulsory area in the country were in accordance with the educational postulates of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and their corresponding execution in the National Development Plan and the Sectorial Plan of Education 2014-2018, of former President Juan Manuel Santos.
