This paper is oriented to present a review of the motivations and the strategies used to apply the fuzzy logic control in micro-grids systems in the recent years, considering the specific topics as energy management, power quality, fault detection and stability. As a contribution of the authors, a comparative analysis of several important characteristics of the analysed proposals related to the application of fuzzy logic control to micro-grids is presented. Additionally, an application example for a VSC control, a traditional PI control and fuzzy logic control techniques are compared, where it is shown how the fuzzy strategy simplifies the control development.
