State Estimator Assessment Platform in Distribution Systems with Advanced Metering Infrastructure and Distributed Generation using Real Time Simulations
This paper describes the design and implementation of a platform that allows to evaluate the performance of a State Estimator on an electrical distribution system, with advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and distributed generation (DG). In this platform, it is possible to identify the observability of the system with the State Estimator, and determine if the electrical grid model is reliable. In addition, simulate faults in communications and in the synchronization of measurements, among others. The above is possible through simulations in realtime, also allowing predictive analysis based on the present conditions of the system, according to the State Estimator. For the State Estimator validation, the model of the electrical system of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá campus, and the implementation of the State Estimator in the ETAP-RT software is developed. This network has 40 electrical substations, a photovoltaic generation system of 70 kWp and a set of smart meters. These meters, provide real-time energy consumption data of some electrical substations, through an emulation interface of the electrical system developed in the simulation software Hypersim of OPAL-RT. The data are remotely consulted through a RESTful WEB service using directly HTTP. This service was deployed as an interface of the PI System platform, which is part of the information management system of National Laboratory of Smart Grids - LAB+i at University.
