Older adults, like people from other age groups, have technological needs that contribute in some way to improving their quality of life and the daily performance of their activities. However, in terms of information and communication technologies, they are often excluded, either because of the complexity of the equipment itself, because of the existence of products not designed for this segment or because of the reduction in motor skills and visual limitations of age, as well as by a self-concept referred to being too old to learn. All this leads them to feel insecure or fearful of making a fool of themselves because of the slowness to assimilate and respond indications, ignorance of the usefulness of technology and the lack of economic capacity to access the devices offered by the market. In this investigation an analysis was made of the technological needs and the difficulties that older adults have for the acquisition and management of said devices. The initial information was obtained from ten focus groups (each consisting of 12 people) and then a structured survey was applied to 208 people 60 years of age and older. The results provided important information to understand the quality of the relationship of older adults in Cartagena de Indias with the technological tools linked to the new information and communication technologies.
