Objective: To describe the experiences and meanings of quality of life manifested by a group of women, against the appearance and suffering of breast cancer in their lives. Additionally, to recognize the influence and affectation that such disease can exert in their personal and professional development. Method: The methodological approach was both qualitative and quantitative; for the quantitative stage the InCaViSa Quality of Life and Health Inventory was applied, and for the qualitative, an ethnographic design was developed. The sample consisted of 12 patients. Results: The feelings, thoughts, actions and experiences that prevailed in the female patients and their social and family dynamics are revealed. In conclusion, the family became the main support network in their recovery. The quality of life of the patients showed an acceptable level both at the personal and professional levels, to the extent that they had internal and external resources.
