For Universidad de Boyacá and the Research Group of the Faculty of Administrative and Accounting Sciences [GISEDE], by its acronym in Spanish, is a great honor to present to the academic and business community of the department of Boyacá and Colombia, the book: Business Success Stories in Boyacá; Entrepreneurship and Success for Competitiveness, written by full-time research professors. This book is the result of the research done by the research professors and takes as a reference the strategic business areas developed by successful companies in the department of Boyacá. This research was developed under the case-study methodology, which has been used as a learning tool in the administrative and accounting sciences, as it allows to simulate real-life situations. It provides the students with a learning tool that allows them to analyze, propose solutions and make decisions to address subjects of debate. One of the objectives for the development of this book is to create a training camp, starting from the analysis of real business situations with successful organizations in the department of Boyacá, which have had to face moments of crisis and have had to make important decisions to survive in the market and carry on successfully. The foremention scenario will generate in the students the ability to analyze and provide their outlook on the case-study developed through questions that encourage discussion in the exercise of management learning. This type of research allows us to deeply understand the business reality of the department of Boyacá, by outlining the situations companies have had to face over time. Case studies include: Coflonorte Ltda., Poultry Company Avícola La Esmeralda, Financial Institute of Boyacá [INFIBOY], Renacer Cooperative O.C., Sidenal S.A., Comerciacoop, Tractec S.A., and the connectivity study between the university, the business sector and the state as a tripartite alliance. In this regard, nine chapters are presented. The first one describes the methodology used in the research which shows the complexity of the case-study and the rigor of the research process carried out. From the second chapter onwards the results about each of the organizations’ object of the study previously mentioned: The second chapter refers to the connectivity study between the university, the business sector and the State in the specific case of the Industrialist Association of Sogamoso [ADIS], by its acronym in Spanish, where tensions and possibilities are reflected in terms of their relationship. The third chapter covers the case of siderurgic of Boyacá, Sidenal, from its historical background and the way it faced different situations, which positions them on the first places of the Siderurgical sector in Colombia. The fourth chapter refers to Coflonorte, a company that is projected as one of the companies with the highest growth in the transportation sector, adopting a wide array of strategies and organizational policies. The fifth chapter presents the case of Tractec S.A.S, from its trajectory, and the way it faces the challenges of competition, starting with the development of products based on the implementation of technology. The case of the Renacer Cooperative is presented on chapter sixth, displaying the possibilities in regards of strenghtening the social and sector dinamics. Subsequently, the seventh chapter presents the case of the Avícola La Esmeralda company, showing how the adaptation of communications through the internet can contribute to the improvement of business forms. Chapter eight highlights the achievements of the Financial Institute of Boyacá, regarding the implementation of financial and no-financial risk management systems. The last chapter adresses the case of Comerciacoop, which shows the relevance it has achieved in its context of action with loyalty programs. It is recognized in that sense, the great work done by the companies and the management models they have implemented. Finally, it is noted that this book is the product of the efforts of our research professors. It is proof of the commitment of Universidad de Boyacá to be actively engaged with regional and national development from the academy, of strengthening productive processes through formative research contributing to management development for competitiveness among the strategic actors: university-business sector-State.
