The novel Formas de volver a casa (2011) by Alejandro Zambra marks a milestone in recent Chilean narrative, by raising the question on the children’s literature, namely the literature of those who were children during the Chilean Military Dictatorship (1973-1989) and became authors in the Post-dictatorship present. The article proposes to analyze the discursive construction of an aesthetical child perspective in the topic of Play by its (auto) representative meaning, of masks and struggles (Huizinga) which becomes operative in three levels of analysis: the child detective, the parents and the struggle of representation in History, and the adult narrator playing as a chilld, who, therefore, becomes a writer.
