Introduction: Pharmaceutical assistance is a context of essential procedures in the promotion, prevention and recovery of health, individual and collective, aimed at medicine, which involves research, production, distribution, storage, prescription and dispensing activities Objective: to analyze the importance of Pharmacist's role in glycemic control of diabetic patients. Methods: This is a narrative review with a qualitative research approach. The search for articles was carried out in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) in the databases of Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Latin American and Caribbean Center for Health Sciences Information (BIREME) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), published between 2010 and 2020. Results: The effectiveness of drug treatments in diabetic patients has in the figure of the pharmacist a link between scientific support and decision-making in the rational use of medication. Conclusion: the pharmacist can create dosage techniques for the correct use of insulins and oral hypoglycemic agents, organizing the schedules of these medications, and creating control sheets for diabetic patients.
