Problem:teenagers and young people attending to the attractive services it offers frequently use the mobile phone. However, its abusive use can generate physical, psychological and social problems. Hence the importance of having instruments that allow evaluating this problem.Objective(s):To evaluate the psychometric properties presented by the Mobile Phone Dependence Test in a sample of Cuban university students.Methodology:A quantitative research paradigm was assumed with instrumental study. The sample was composed by 536 Cuban university students participated.Results and discussion: The linguistic and sociocultural adaptation of the instrument was development. Four factors were identified (Tolerance, Abstinence, Difficulties related to its use and Lackcontrol) and adequate levels of reliability. The Factor 2 Abstinence showed higher means in the students who were closer to the stage of adolescence. No differences were found regarding sex and the factors obtained.Conclusions:Test of Mobile Phone Dependence showed adequate psychometric properties that allow its use in the Cuban university context.
