This study presents a characterization of the educational innovation “Cinema” at Qualia Alternativa Educativa school. It describes the phases, dimensions and categories that constitute it as an educative innovation. Additionally, this article presents the results of a qualitative investigation, carried out under the interpretivist paradigm, that explains how Cinema in Qualia has permeated the school’s curriculum. The research method selected was a case study, comprising a revision of the documents used as film guides, interviews with students and an interview with a teaching director. The method of analysis was triangulation under three categories related to this educational space: curriculum, pedagogical practices, and learning activities and processes. As a result, the study showed that this curricular innovation has transformed the role of the student and the teacher, as well as certain organizational practices.
