The manuscript presents the partial results of a more extensive research that has been carried out in terreiros of Candomblé and Umbanda, recovering here, above all, the Pom-ba-giras, one of the entities of the Afro-Brazilian cults of Candomblé and Umbanda. Af-rocentred readings did not consolidate as an epistemological perspective in Psychology, because they questioned white supremacy and its colonial logic, putting in check the uni-versality of psychological experience.
