This book reflects the deepconcern of the Faculty of Jurisprudence of the Universidad del Rosario aboutstrengthening and publicizing international law in Latin America, preciselybecause in the last decades of the twentieth century the strong presence of theregion in international scenariosstarted to weaken. In the current century, asa consequence of border conflicts, further research has been necessary in thisarea of law. This fact was important for the project of creating an AnnualCongress of International Law at the Faculty of Jurisprudence of theUniversidad del Rosario in order to meet the need for a collective work ofinternational projection that would present the most recent criticalreflections on the subjects and sources of public international law, the placeof the Latin American academy in its progressive development, as well as itsfull validity and applicability in the most controversial currentjurisdictional scene: international investment arbitration. On the other hand,it also sought o meet the need of establishing, as an epistemic community, aregional forum, with its center of activity in Colombia, for the developmentand promotion of the most important debates in international law.
