Objective : To determine the water quality of water sources, Cacique, Jella, Enjoyment, Cupica-Playa, Mecana, Me - cana-Playa, which ow into the sea in the municipality of Bahia Solano, Choc o, Colombia. Methods : To characterize the bodies of water in Bahia Solano, three pollution indexes (ICO) were applied: ICOMI or mineralization, ICOMO or organic pollution and ICOSUS relative to suspended solids. Which present the contamination indicators for surface sources of Colombia. IDEAM protocol was also used as a guide to monitoring of water currents. In this regard, several samples of surface water were taken and brought to the laboratory to know the physico-chemical and bacteriological characteristics of the water and thus determine the pollution of water sources Results : The results allowed to nd that the rate of contamination by organic matter (how should) stood in the range of 0.546-0.633 and suspended solids (ICOSUS) in the range of 0.01 to 0.1. Conclusion : Contaminants associated with organic matter exceed 53% contributed by the suspended solids. Pollution problems found in the studied water sources are generated as a result of the development of human activities. Therefore, strategic interventions are needed to counter the negative impacts on water resources.
