This paper presents reflections about influential and differential aspects in development and professional training of occupational therapists in three Latin American countries: Colombia, México and Ecuador. This analysis is based in the knowledge and the opportunity of the author to work with occupational therapists in each country, as well as including suggestions for the improvement and development of the career. These reflections connect with the development of each country and macro political factors such as neoliberalism, which generated profound transformations for their social politics, as well as an impact on the formation of each country, including the theme that sustains the career, its duration and the graduate profile of each university. Finally, an analysis about the association of the professionals will be made by showing the weakness and the difficulties that are present in the professional association’s work that impacts the development of the occupational therapy.
