The simple febrile crisis is related to a great variety of pathologies that present with fever. Its management warrants a clear approach to prevent complications, avoid the risk of recurrences, optimize resources and achieve adequate guidance from parents. The literature on simple febrile convulsion is reviewed, because despite its exact definition, its diagnostic criteria and treatment in the emergency department still give rise to controversies.
