Preeclampsia is a multisystem condition during pregnancy, with a high rate of morbidity and mortality in the mother and the child. Within the spectrum of effects is the alteration of cerebral blood flow that is sometimes associated with seizures (eclampsia). An attempt has been made to find a diagnostic method for its early detection, initiate timely therapy and reduce the negative effects. Transcranial Doppler is a non-invasive, low-cost and safe test that can have a diagnostic value. The objective of the article is a review on the usefulness of transcranial Doppler and preeclampsia. We searched the PubMed database with MeSh terms. Different studies reveal decreased resistance and pulsatility rates in the second trimester of pregnancy, which can predict the onset of preeclampsia.
