The present work is a result of an educational experience centered on the systematization of a pedagogical practice derived from the investigational project Cultural and Scholarly Exchange of Letters Bogotá-Leticia. This exchange took place within a group of first-grade girls and boys of the Institución Educativa Distrital Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt in the locale of Fontibón, Bogotá, with second-grade students from the Institución Educativa INEM José Eustásio Rivera in the city of Leticia, Amazonas. Amongst themselves and throughout several months, the students carried out this intercultural exchange and at the same time, experienced the fascination of scholarly correspondence. The purpose of investigation was to analyze the process of cultural interchange in the students of cycle I, exploring aspects of language involved in epistolary communication in the context of a language project. This project allowed the children in Bogotá to witness new styles of life through the letters, videos, photographs, and particular correspondence, in which they made use of digital media that carries with it the new technologies and configuration of the epistolary genre. Without a doubt, this was a scenario that ratifies the critical and reflexive teaching practice of intercultural letter writing, which is able to transform the scholarly environment of educational institutions. This proposal is framed in a sociocultural focus on the teaching of language, through the didactic configuration of the language project.
