This article reflects the contributions of the Faculty of Sociology of the Santo TomásUniversity to the institutionalization of Sociology in Colombia in the Sixties and Seventies, from the analysis of the birth of the program, the first curriculum, the first teachers, the emphasis on research and student representation. As conclusions, we present the continuity and permanence of the Faculty, along with a considerable body of graduates as one of the main contributions to the institutionalization of the profession and, in addition, a reflection on plurality and polyphony when doing “sociology of sociology” in Colombia
