The apnea of the preterm newborn is a condition with high risk of morbidity and mortality in this age group, that is why pediatricians, neonatologists, nurses, therapists and personnel in general who identify and in one way or another intervene in the prevention and management of this pathology, they are in need of continuous updating. A review of the literature is made about the current definition, diagnosis and treatment that can and should be offered to the preterm newborn with apnea.
