Background: Skull base defects located in the posterior cranial fossa are associated with increased risk of postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak due to direct communication with arachnoid cisterns, higher CSF pressure and more difficult reconstruction. Some patients require multiple repairs due to persistent CSF leaks.
