This article is derived from the doctoral research “Medellín: re-empowered public space”. The case study: Integral Urban Project, PUI, Northeast (2004- 2007) 1 proposes approaching to build a first relational map between thought and public space, for it identifies sources from which its contemporary meanings have been constructed, showing how this notion it is a relatively recent matter and whose current connotations surpass the urban dimension
