The port and logistics activity has played a transcendental role for the competitiveness of the economy, it is a powerful tool to increase the flows of trade between the economies, which directly affects the productivity, competitiveness and economic development of the countries. In general terms, the port logistic sector of the city of Cartagena is one of the most important productive bets for the local and national economy, therefore, the maintenance of the companies of the sector and the achievement of their strategies to maintain this competitive advantage they are of vital importance. Therefore, the objective of this article of reflection is based on the analysis of secondary information to elaborate a general outline of the pattern of strategic configuration that is emerging and developing in the companies of the port logistics sector that contributes to the capacity of creation and sustainability in its competitive advantage, from a macroeconomic point of view. For this, the Competitiveness Model of the Five Forces of Porter was followed. The results are accompanied by positive data regarding the increase in investments in infrastructure, in addition the strategic location of the port has allowed connectivity with more than 600 ports in 140 countries; it is potentially the most important and strategic port logistics cluster in the Caribbean Region.
