The purpose of this paper is to show the comparative advantages of the port of Cartagena de taking into account the opportunities that are being presented in terms of handling costs for the transport of goods through the multimodal system. This article presents a reflexive analysis based on direct observation, review of statistical data provided by the Port Society, Republic Bank, scientific journals and the practice relates to the authors’s advice to the degree work entitled Analysis of competitiveness and identification of critical points of fluvial transport of containerized cargo as an alternative multimodal transport in Cartagena de Indias, held at the Technological University of Bolivar.
