Due to time- and costs constraints, the complete transformation of the production systems to the Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CPPS) is extremely difficult to achieve. The answer to this problem could be a new control solution, which could be built above the legacy systems. Such solution could insure a migration path from the existing to the new CPPS-conform structures. To provide a flexibility feature and to make production systems self- adaptable to unexpected disturbances, the "intelligent" distributed approach based on agents and supervisory control theory is proposed. In addition, the extension of the evaluation criteria for the MAS-based control systems, which was developed together with experts' members of the technical committee 5.15 "Agent systems" of the Society Measurement and Automatic Control (GMA) within the Society of German Engineers (VDI) and German Electrical Engineers (VDE) is presented in the paper. Finally, the presented in the paper MAS-based control architecture is evaluated according to the new proposed classification table.
