This study conducts a theoretical review about the development of human resource managment processes in Colombian market places. However, there is not much information about this topic but it was possible to find similiar studies in some national small and medium enterprises. The methodology was to review field records for tracking the state of this issue in the Colombian context and theoretical background to support the importance of human management processes within the organizations. The data gathered from the research group “Psique y Sociedad” from the Fundacion Universitaria Maria Cano was included in order to describe an specific case in one of the market places of Medellin city. It is concluded that in the market places, along with some small and medium enterprises, human management processes have a functional nature and they obbey to isolated activites not related with eachother. In this matter, human resource management inside the market places and small and medium enterprises does not achieve a strategical perspective and even though, theoretically, the human being is no longer considered as a resource, this paradigm is not reflected inside Colombian organizations.
