Objectives:To analyze the context of Records Management in Colombia compared to other case studies.To analyze the education programs of the Colombian universities surrounding Archival Science and Information Sciences.To deepen on the application of the diverse norms of documentary processes in public and private entities.Methods: This type of comparative experience offers relevant possibilities to incorporate good documentary practices, as well as observing the advances and opportunities for document management improvement.In a country like Colombia, that urgently needs the advancement and greater implementation of courses focusing on Information Science in general.Results: After doing the bibliographic survey, we think that Records Management in Colombia has had a significant growth in the last five years.However, in comparison with other Latin American countries, the process of adaptation and implementation of norms and laws in matters of documentary standardization is still at an embryonic stage.Conclusions: This type of comparative experience offers a broad view of the behavior of a given country, to analyze its documentary complexities.
