Diseño e implementación de un filtro para tratamiento de aguas grises en la aplicación de un sistema de riego para una huerta casera en San Andrés Islas, Colombia
The main objective of this investigation is to treat gray wastewater from a house and to use the treated water to irrigate a vegetable garden. The treatment system is based on a slow sand filter. The results are going to be compared with the legal normativity related to this subject such as legal ruling 2115 de 2007, Decree 1594 de 1984 and legal ruling 1207 de 2014 that stablish the maximum level allowed in water destined to human consumption. The development of this kind of filters can contribute to have a better use to the gray wastewater coming from homes. Mainly in those areas that do not have sewage network or a proper sewage drainage system. In this sense, the treated wastewater is a potential resource to supply the water demand in agricultural sector. The preliminary results, registered during the first month of implementation showed that the filter has a significant removal potential based on physicochemical water parameters such as pH, electric conductivity, turbidity and total solid dissolved (TDS).
