[Amyand's hernia: A case report]ResumenLa hernia de Amyand, es una rara presentacion de apendicitis aguda, en donde el apendice se encuentra inflamado y hace parte del contenido de una hernia inguinal. Se presenta en aproximadamente el 0,13 % de los casos de apendicitis aguda. Por lo general, el diagnostico es realizado de forma intraoperatoria, ya que la incarceracion del contenido herniario motivan a llevar a exploracion quirurgica urgente; dentro de la intervencion y tras encontrar el apendice cecal en estado inflamatorio pueden realizarse diferentes tecnicas de manejo, las cuales han sido descritas por Lossanoff y Basson. Se presenta el caso clinico de un paciente de sexo masculino, quien manifiesta sensacion de dolor de un dia de evolucion, asociado a nauseas y encarcelamiento del contenido de su hernia inguinal. Ante su torpida evolucion y persistencia del dolor es intervenido quirurgicamente. Se documenta como contenido herniario el apendice vermiforme en fase edematosa; realizandole apendicetomia y herniorrafia inguinal derecha con protesis en esta.
