In a positive displacement pump there was a phenomenon of accelerated wear, which caused the pump unit to exhibit high levels of vibration, causing the unit to leave operation by triggering alarms by high vibration. To find the cause of the problem, we started with the analysis of spectral vibration registers, in which harmonic activity was evidenced, which allowed to conclude that the excess vibration in the pump was related to the condition of the vanes, the next step was to intervene the pump for the extraction of the same, finding evidence of wear in the contact zones. On the failed vanes studies of chemical composition, metallography and hardness were carried out. In the microstructure of the vane material, it was evidenced inclusions of lead correlated to the manufacturing process by casting by molding, a propitious condition for concentration of efforts which affects the behavior of the system tribometer of the vanes, as conclusion it is recommended to change the manufacturing process of the blades by a process of casting by rolling and machining in order to avoid inclusions in its microstructure
