This volume analyzes the relations between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean from regionalism and interregionalism, as structuring phenomena of the globalization process. Thus, the first chapter reviews regionalist theories over six decades from classical functionalist theories, to open regionalism with structuralist undertones, to 21st century regionalism, which encompasses multiple heterogeneous experiences.
