This work aims to contribute to the knowledge of the history of translation in Argentina, from the analysis of the function of literary importation in a context marked by the partial closure of the public sphere as a result of the repressive policies pursued by the dictatorship between 1976 and 1983. This paper aims to analyze how, in the midst of a political and economic double restriction, the translation of literature and social sciences allowed an opening to foreign discourses in the controlled discursive space of the time. Our case study is that of the collection Biblioteca Total directed by Beatriz Sarlo and Carlos Altamirano for the Centro Editor de América Latina between 1976 and 1978.
