Together with his research group, and through national and international cooperation, he studies the natural and human-impacted morphological evolution of sandy beaches and dunes in response to wave-induced and aeolian processes. He uses a process-based approach, in which he often combines in-situ field data, remote sensing observations, laboratory experiments, and numerical models. His current research interests include aeolian process dynamics and seasonal to yearly exchange of sand between the beach and the dunes.
