In order to know the incidence of the political parties in the results of the mayoral elections in the municipality of Bello-Antioquia in 2011, this article describes the actions of the political parties in the process of the contest, that is, the strategies and alliances used by them. Through a qualitative and quantitative research it could be established that the result of the contest was not only the manifestation of a nontransferable and genuine dissent of the voters, but that the political parties can end up influencing, directly or indirectly, the triumph of the blank vote that, as in this case, based on electoral alliances, determined a single candidate leaving no other option for the voters than to cast the blank vote.
