This article lays on the results of a qualitative research that intends to understand the phenomenon of intentionality of Colombian Caribbean composers in the creation of a musical work, who used the identification and analysis of participant´s life experiences and the meaning that musical composition has for them. This work was guided by the phenomenological approach, which observes the relation that a person establishes from his /her own experiences, focused on a non-communicable reality, decisive at once for understanding every one´s psychic life. It was observed that in the creation of musical composition the composers, involved in the research, experienced values of greater significance, making sense encompassing different dimensions relevant along their life, providing as evidence that musical composition work constitutes an alternative of psychological well-being that benefits their mental health.
