The CO 2 emissions from cars is an increasingly worrying issue and this is why industries are looking for a solution in order to minimize the emissions and reduce the negative environmental impacts. Toyota developed a model in Simulink of an L4 engine, in order to simulate a control solution capable of minimizing the CO 2 emissions. In this article, a linear quadratic integral (LQI) control is designed based on the identification of the model that was given by Toyota. In the identification validation, a 73% of similitude is obtained. Moreover, the proposed LQI is able to reduce the fuel consumption in 9.9% of the original data.
