This research had as objective to analyze the criteria of selection of suppliers in the hotel sector of the city of Santa Marta - Colombia. The research was based on: Aguilera y Puerto (2012), Global Reporting Initiative (2011), Guedez (2014), Ibarra (2014) and Perera (2006), among others. Methodologically, the research typified as descriptive, with a non-experimental, crosssectional field design. A population of 40 subjects from the hotel companies of Santa Marta was identified. We worked with the census technique. As a data collection technique, a 16-item scaletype instrument developed with five (5) response alternatives. For the evaluation of the instrument, the expert judgment technique used. The reliability under Cronbach Alpha criterion was high at 0.858. The results indicate that under the study conditions, hotel companies in the city of Santa Marta manage a Selection Criteria for providers that classified as high, which is positive since it allows companies to have a good relationship with these.
