ASSESSMENT OF SHEAR STRENGTH OF POLYOLEFIN AND STEEL FIBRE REINFORCED CONCRETE

Acceso Abierto

Abstract:

Recent research and applications have shown that fibre reinforced concrete (FRC) is an attractive solution also for structural elements [1]. The addition of fibres improves the material response when subjected to bending and tensile stresses [2]. The objective of this study was to assess the shear behaviour of steel and polyolefin fibre reinforced concrete. The experimental campaign was conducted using push-off specimens obtained from the remaining halves of specimens previously tested in flexural tensile tests. Moreover, the tests were performed with a digital image correlation system (DIC) in order to associate the cracking processes with residual shear strengths during the test. The results showed that the higher fibre dosage the higher maximum shear strengths as well as residual shear load bearing capacity.
