The objective of this research was to evaluate and compare the executive functions and the levels of depression in a group of university students with normal weight, overweight and obesity type I. A total of 45 individuals were involved grouped into: normal weight (Average age: 20.20 years; D.T.: 1.65; Average BMI: 21.35; D.T.: 1.33), overweight (Average age: 21.80 years; D.T.: 2.62; Average BMI: 27.77; D.T.: 1.55) and obesity type I (Average age: 20.93 years;) D.T.: 1.79; Average BMI: 32.54; D.T.: 5.05). A frontal neuropsychological battery and the Beck (BDI-II) depression inventory were administered. An analysis of variance ANOVA was used to compare the performances of intergroups. Overweight individuals presented lower performance than normal weight and obese individuals. However, the obesity type I group showed a greater tendency in the levels of depression. Results are discussed in relation to the existing literature.
